Tau Kappa Epsilon (Teke)
Chapter: Nickname: Founded: Founded Locally: Philanthropy: Flower: Colors: Famous Members: Tau Kappa Epsilon International Fraternity was founded in 1899 at Illinois Wesleyan University. It has since chartered more than 270 local chapters, including several in Canada and a colony in Germany. The Zeta Beta chapter at the University of Evansville was founded in 1957. Upon its founding, TKE redefined what it meant to be in a fraternity by combining the strengths of an individual with a strong brotherhood working towards a common vision. The Tekes at UE exemplify this mission with their close-knit brotherhood and the diversity of the chapter. The Tekes are involved in numerous activities and organizations on campus such as, Aces Brass, various other band ensembles, theatre, Japanese Club, intramurals, SDF, Medieval Society, Anime Club, Quidditch Club, DDR Club, Gamers Society, Twenty-first Century Scholar mentors, Circle K and FUBAR. The Tekes have a strong sense of responsibility and proudly do volunteer work every semester. TKE holds its annual Glamour Girl competition every spring to raise money in support of the Ronald Reagan Alzheimer’s Foundation. The Zeta Beta chapter is dedicated to improving each member’s scholastic standing through their college years with a variety of academic programs. The Tekes have various majors including theatre, archaeology, international studies and visual communication. The Tekes offer their Triangle Scholarship to freshmen males every year early in the fall semester. The UE experience is not complete without personally experiencing New Guy’s dance, the TKE Air Band and the world renowned grilling abilities of Chef le Mike. The men of Tau Kappa Epsilon have come together as individuals to create a social organization that enhances the college experience of each member. The Tekes understand that the cornerstone of any social organization is having a good time and meeting new people. At Tau Kappa Epsilon you have the ability to maintain your individuality while coming together with others under a common bond. |
