How Does Recruitment Work?
Recruitment is a time for prospective members to learn about the
sororities and fraternities at UE. Through this process,
potential new members should take the opportunity to ask questions about
Greek life and find out what each chapter has to offer. The main
focus of recruitment is learning which chapter can provide the best fit
for you as an individual. We urge prospective new members to use
recruitment to venture out and meet new people and experience another
aspect of college life. Click on the links below for a more
detailed overview of men's and women's recruitment.

FAQs
If I go through formal recruitment, am I obligated to join?
No, this is a time for you to decide if you would like to join a sorority or fraternity.
Many women and men choose to go through formal recruitment to meet people
and make new friends. This is an opportunity for you to visit the sororities or
fraternities, get a glimpse of Greek life and decide whether or not the UE Greek
system is right for you.
How do I decide which groups I prefer?
As a potential member, you will have a different experience in each group,
depending on whom you meet and your personal preferences and personality. A
sorority/fraternity should be a second home, a place where you feel totally
comfortable and welcome. Your experiences at each party, your personal desires
and your goals should guide you to the group that is right for you.
How much will membership cost?
Membership in a Greek organization is an investment. The benefits of world-class
leadership development, international networks of friends and serving others through
philanthropy and community service are impossible to measure in dollars alone.
New sorority members should anticipate investing between $375 and $450 their
first semester in new member fees. New fraternity member fees range between
$250 and $400. Dues and other financial information will be distributed during
formal recruitment.
What about hazing?
Hazing is defined as any action or situation created intentionally by an individual
or group, on or off campus, to produce mental or physical discomfort, embarrassment,
harassment or ridicule. Hazing includes causing excess fatigue, engaging in
public stunts, morally degrading or humiliating games, forced consumption of
food or beverages or other substances, or any other forced activity which would
subject the individual to extreme mental stress or adversely affect the physical or
mental health or dignity of the individual, for the purpose of initiation, or
admission into, or affiliation with, any organization, formal or informal.
The University of Evansville strictly prohibits hazing in any form by individuals or
organizations. Student organizations which participate in hazing may
lose privileges or status as a recognized student organization in
addition to University disciplinary action. (Please refer to the Student
Handbook for more information) or click on:
