Saturday, September 13 - Introduction and House Tours

The week of Formal Recruitment begins on Saturday, September 13 with House Tours leaving from Hyde Hall 126.  All potential new members are required to go through House Tours. This is the first formal introduction to the Greek system for potential new members.  Groups of potential new members will be guided by Interfraternity Council (IFC) members to each of the six houses, where they will then receive a guided tour through the house by a brother of the fraternity.  Dress is shirt and tie.

Saturday, September 13 through Thursday, September 18 - Open Houses

Each fraternity has its own Open House on an assigned night during the week of Formal Recruitment. On this night, potential new members may visit only the house that has a designated Open House.  Potential new members should use this opportunity to meet the brothers of the fraternity and discover if their brotherhood is a suitable fit.  The atmosphere is very laid back and dress is casual.

Friday, September 19 - Preference Night

On Preference night, Friday, September 19, all of the houses are open to visit. The potential new member picks the house(s) he prefers to join. Potential new members may visit all houses if they desire to do so. The activities and atmosphere are similar to that of the Open Houses.  Dress is casual.

Saturday, September 20 - Bid Night/Passover

Bid night, also referred to as "Passover", is the night the potential new member decides which fraternity he would like to join.  Every potential new member receiving a bid will meet in Hyde Hall 126 at 7:00pm on Saturday, September 20.  Bids will then be handed out and once a new member makes his decision, he will run outside to be "passed over" his new brothers.  Dress is shirt and tie.
